Taking a blogging break is all well and good, until you sit down to write your first post for a while and find your brain no longer knows how to write a coherent post!
I’ve already spoken in my life update post about why I’ve had to take an unwelcome break from my blog this month, but I have so many ideas planned out for May; I can’t wait to have time to just sit down and batch write them all day.
This morning I tried to write a caption for an Instagram photo and couldn’t even manage that, so goodness knows what state this post is going to end up in…
This month has been a real mix of ups and downs. Chris was involved in a pretty serious accident and his car ended up on its roof at the bottom of a ditch. The guy who caused it just sped off and if it wasn’t for some kind people stopping to help him out of the car, it could have been a whole lot worse. By some miracle he walked away from it with just an injured arm and knock to his head!
While he didn’t end up with any serious injuries, he’s had a really hard time dealing with the anxiety and flashbacks that the crash has been causing. That’s going to take a lot longer to heal than his bruises will.
We got quite lucky, even though Chris didn’t have a dash cam himself (I was actually planning on buying him one for his birthday) they person in the car behind him did have one, and managed to catch the whole event on it. The police have been reviewing it and this morning they phoned Chris to let him know that they had found the driver who caused the crash and were questioning him today; he’s hopefully going to be charged with dangerous driving and fleeing the scene of an accident.
There have been some good points though; going to watch snooker live at The Crucible Theatre and a short holiday with Chris and his family. Then of course Avengers Infinity War finally coming out…although in all honesty I’m not actually sure if thats a good or bad thing after watching it.
Don’t worry, no spoilers from me. But if you’ve watched it, you’ll know!
Almost every beauty blogger in the industry seems to endlessly talk about this foundation, so I thought I would finally pop into my local counter and pick up a sample of it.
At first glance I absolutely love this foundation (obviously otherwise I wouldn’t be including it in this post…), it’s very full coverage without being clingy to my dry patches. Plus it lasts all day, even without any setting spray on! Not only that but it actually matches my skin tone perfectly, something I usually struggle to find in both high end and drugstore foundations.
However after a week of trying it out, I noticed that I was starting to get a bit of a breakout on my chin. I wasn’t trying out any other new products at the time and once I stopped using it, it cleared up in only a few days. I’m hoping it was just bad timing and was actually caused by stress and my crappy diet recently, so I’m going to wait until things have settled down a little and then try it out again.
I’ll keep you updated.
Okay so confession time; this is the first Lush product that I’ve actually bought for myself. I’ve only ever been in a few times for a friends Christmas present and some products for my first ever giveaway which I ran last year.
However I finally get the hype around their products!
It reminds me so much of freshly cut oak that I had to pick it up. My dad worked as a Joiner when I was growing up and he would always come home smelling of sawdust and wood; so I always associate those scents with him and my childhood.
You don’t really need to put much of it on, it’s a very strong scent and lasts most of the day without needing a top up. It’s quickly become my go-to scent this spring.
Last week I picked up an undated planner from Primark, it was reduced down to just £2 and couldn’t resist snatching it up!
I’ve been planning on getting a real bullet journal for a while now, but I’m not actually naturally artistic. Strange for a designer to say I know; I can create things on Illustrator all day but I can’t draw with paper and pencil to save my life. I know a lot people say it doesn’t matter, that a journal can be messy and all over the place, but I’m a perfectionist and have to have everything looking neat and pretty.
You only have to look at my bullet journal board on Pinterest to see what I mean.
So instead I decided to compromise a little; I picked up the planner and then spent the next few hours making lots of lists in it. Not only do I now feel like I’ve got my life a little bit more in order, but it always helps my motivation and mood to tick off everything I’ve actually achieved in a day!
I’ve not had as many things to feature this month, but considering I’ve basically been glued to my laptop trying to hit deadlines, thats hardly surprising.
