Life Update- August 2017 Roundup
If you’ve been with my blog from the beginning, you might remember waaaay back when I used to do a goals and dear diary style post every month. I kind of fell out of love with them, especially the goals part, so I stopped writing them.
Well today I’m bringing them back…kind of!
I’ve been thinking about doing a weekly roundup post for a while now (either on my blog or as a separate newsletter) but I quickly realised I might not have the time to do one every.single.week so instead I’m going to round it up into a monthly one!
When I ran a poll on twitter last month, a lot of people said they enjoyed reading these kinds of post so here’s hoping this format goes down well! Please let me know in the comments or on social media if you like this kind of thing. Also let me know if you don’t! All opinions are welcome as long as you aren’t being a jerk.
Things I’ve loved.
I’ve really revived my love of photography this month, both personally and on my blog. I recently invested in a Canon EOS M10 which I’m in love with! You can read my full review here but it’s such a great little all round camera, I take it out with me everywhere these days!
This one is a bit of a love/hate one. I’ve finally set a store up to sell my designs as actual physical items, but I’ve not had a single sale yet. Admittedly I’ve not been promoting it like I should be but it’s because I feel very self conscious about if it’s good enough or not.
I’ll link it for you here and if you want to have a look and give me some feedback, it would be much appreciated! If you actually wanted to buy something, you’d literally make my year as driving lessons are expensive and this girl is broke af right now!
Tea tree skincare
I was lucky enough to be sent out a sample of Australian Body Care Tea Tree Oil Skin Wash this month and it’s reminded me why I love tea tree so much! It’s helped reduce the huge amount of redness I get on my cheeks and nose, got rid of almost all my spots (I have a few at the moment because I’ve been too lazy ill to use it for the last few days) and it leave my skin feeling so smooth and dry!
If you struggle with greasy skin I’d definitely recommend it- I’ll be picking up another bottle or six to make sure I never run out of it!
Things I’ve loved less.
What a surprise! I’m one of those people who is never happy with her hairstyle: I want it long when it’s short, short when it’s long and want to change the colour at least 3 times a week. I swear my hairdresser secretly hates seeing me walk through her door.
At the minute I hate the style and colour of my hair and don’t know what to do with it. Feel free to spam my twitter with photos of hairstyles/colours- I need inspiration!
This photo is from when I had it done in a while ago and I wish I’d kept it like this. Guess I’ll have to wait for it to grow back…again…
I’m currently in the process of coming off the pill injection for the second time. We had a bit of a scare at the beginning of the year and as I’m sure most of you know by now, kids aren’t something in my 5 year plan. Hell they aren’t in my plan full stop. Don’t get me wrong I love kids but due to my Emetophobia, it’s not really an option for me to get pregnant.
If you don’t know what Emetophobia is or why I doubt I’ll be able to have kids because of it, you can read this post here where I talk all about it.
Anyway long story short the pill injection makes me seriously depressed, paranoid and just basically a bitch to be going out with. It was putting a strain on our relationship so we decided I’d come off it and go back to just using condoms again. It’s taken about 6 months by my periods are starting to return and boy are they coming back with a vengeance!
Now I remember why I went on the pill in the first place!
Unexpected car repairs
Back in July, Chris had to pay a pretty pricey amount to get his car fixed as there were a number of things wrong with it. He went to what was meant to be a reputable garage and after a whole day in the shop, the car was fixed.
Or so we thought.
Fast forward to this week and he’s had to go to a different garage to have one of the same parts fixed again. The wheel bearing was making a humming/roaring noise that was louder than the engine and when the new mechanic had a look, he said it was a good job we’d come in before driving to Scarborough! The wheel would more than likely have exploded while we were on the motorway and I’ve spent the last 24 hours trying really hard not to imagine what would have happened after that.
We’ve had to cancel the trip because fixing it for a second time has eaten up all Chris’s savings and we can’t afford the trip anymore now. While I’m not too sad about the trip being cancelled (I’m not really one go holidays anyway) it been heartbreaking to see Chris so upset and stressed!
Not the start to his birthday week I had planned…
