Dear Diary; The Mixed One
Hi guys, I can’t believe it’s been a week since I wrote my last Dear Diary post! This week has flown by I’ve been that busy and as such the blog has kind of taken a backseat, I’ve only wrote one post this week (you can read it here if you missed it). I might be a bit quite on the blogging front for the next few weeks as my deadline is fast approaching and I need to focus on my work. Hope you can all understand and have patience with me 🙂
The week started off in a hectic rush of running round trying to get my end of year show set up. It was taken down to the wire due to a few unforeseen circumstances, a few people only just managed to set their sections up before the first people turned up! It was a little strange and uncomfortable to have people walking up to my work and talking about it while I was stood there but after a glass of wine I relaxed a little and really enjoyed the night. It’s really sad to think that there’s only a few more weeks left until it’s all over. For the first time ever I’ve made friends here and felt included, I don’t want to give that feeling up. Also because of the way the year has gone, I don’t have a plan for what I’m doing next which is terrifying. I always have a plan. No exceptions. So to find myself in this situation is a new experience that I don’t know how to cope with. I’m not panicking though, things will work themselves out and I still have a bit of time to sort things out.
I went through to Huddersfield on Wednesday with a friend to go see her exhibition and then she was came back to see mine. Its only the second time I’ve been to Huddersfield and I have to say I love the place.
Seeing all the work was both inspiring and depressing. It was inspiring to see what people had done and come up with a few new ideas myself but also depressing because they have better facilities that we do and some of the work was absolutely amazing, way better than anything I have done!
To cheer myself up we went to a place called Ice Stone Gelato and I had my first ever Banana and Nutella Crepe….OMG! How have I lived without this in my life?! I will literally travel all the way back there just to get another one of these babies! I would probably try the Strawberry one next time as I didn’t know they did that before I ordered and all I can think about it Nutella and Strawberries! *drools*
Oh and I finally got my reward for winning an app designing competition back in January! I was only expecting a £10/£15 voucher but to my surprise I ended up with a £40 Boots voucher! £40! I used part of it to pick up some Benefit Cosmetics Minis from Boots and got a free makeup bag! *insert love heart eyed emoji here* I still have a fair amount left so time to do a bit of shopping when I get some free time!
We’ve not needed to go back into uni since the show so I thought it would be a nice, relaxing break where I could have some time to myself, looking into funding options and continue with my uni work while watching movies. However that hasn’t happened thanks to the EU Referendum. I went off to vote like everyone else on Thursday after volunteering (I won’t say which way I voted as I believe in keeping your vote private) but didn’t really think much more about it. I got on with some work, watched Lord of the Rings with a cup of coffee and some chocolate and then played some Farcry 4 with my friend.
I woke up the next morning and I’d completely forgotten about the whole thing. That is until I went on social media. The first thing I saw was a very nasty and aggressive post aimed at those who had voted to leave and then it hit me, we must have voted to leave! I quickly checked my BBC News app (yes I have a news app on my phone, I like to know whats going on in the world- don’t judge!) and every article on there was about the vote; the statistics, what would happen next, how people were reacting, things like that. I was genuinely shocked with the result, I thought it would be close but I though that Remain would win by the narrowest of margins.
However what I didn’t expect was how nasty this Vote would make people! I actually came off social media for the whole of Friday and most of Saturday because I couldn’t stand how horrible people were being to each other! Of course everyone has their opinions and one side had to lose but some of the thing I was seeing being posted by people was just horrible. And there’s no need for it. None at all. You have your opinion- fine. What isn’t fine is being abusive towards people and assuming they voted leave because of immigration or remain because they like holidays (which seems to be the main stereotypes). No one knows why people have voted the way they have, so there is no need to argue and be arseholes towards each other. Although on the subject of immigration I have seen some absolutly vile things being said to people and it is making my blood boil! I am so embarrased to say I’m from England right now! But I’m not going to get into that otherwise there will be quite a few words typed that aren’t appropraite for younger people to read.
Okay that’s my little Brexit rant over with. Promise. Sorry about the negativity.
The next few weeks are going to be pretty much the same but hopefully I’ll be doing at least one thing a week that I can write about, otherwise the next few Dear Diary posts are going to be pretty boring!
See you next time!
P.S Sorry that some of the images aren’t edited, I just haven’t had the time!
P.P.S Sorry that this post is so late, I’ve had to re write the Brexit section three times because I got a little too aggressive and that isn’t what I wanted this post to be about.
