Mental Health

Hello and welcome!

Hi there folks! My name is Jade and I’m a mental health survivor.

After nearly a year of should I, shouldn’t I about starting a blog I’ve finally decided taken the plunge; the worse that can happen is no one reads it and I’m just talking to myself…well typing…

I wanted to write a blog about my experiences, the tips and tricks I’ve picked up over the years and show people that they’re not alone!

I have anxiety, depression, anorexia and “suspected” Aspergers. I say suspected because I STILL haven’t been officially diagnosed! I was on the waiting list for the waiting list (yes there is such a thing) for nearly two years and just recently I finally received my questionnaire and then results letter saying they think I do have it. I’m now on the waiting list for an assessment…which I might not even be able to get to because it isn’t anywhere local and I have social anxiety…fun.

I’m not on medication by my own choice as I can self manage the anxiety and depression well enough. I just really don’t like the idea of tablets messing with my head (not judging anyone who does take meds as I think that it is completely personal choice and only you can decide what is best for you) and my anorexia is much better. I now eat at least one meal a day plus breakfast and try to drink 3/4 bottles of water a day. This is a real improvement from the cereal bar and a glass of water a day that I was living on for around three months when I was really bad. I’ve managed to put the weight back on and while I do relapse (and probably always will) I have a lot more good days than I do bad!

I plan on posting at least once a week about my monthly goals, how my weeks have been and wide range of topics about Mental Health. It may fluctuate a little as I am coming to the end of my uni course and I’m working really hard on my Final Major Project! I can’t say too much here right now but I can tell you it’s an app created with the aim of helping those of us with Mental Health conditions. Watch this space for more in the coming months! 🙂

Is there something you’d like me to write about in particular? Let me know in the comments!

welcome to the blogosphere dear! Mental health is pretty much broad topic to discuss about. I am suggesting that you just start on the little things that build you up to who you are today and then finally go to wider things. It’s a bit fun exploring our inner selves. 🙂 See ya next time!

I’ll mostly be covering anxiety and depression but there’s also things like coping techniques and motivational posts that can be for everyone 🙂 I’m also going to do goals for the month and diary posts (probably weekly), so it’s a mix between a personal blog and stuff for others; hope you enjoy what’s to come! 🙂

Well done for being so honest, this is a very brave thing to do. Myself and some friends also have experience with anxiety and depression and you always think you are alone but there are plenty more people out there just like us! The key is to talk about your feelings, the worse thing we can do is keep these feelings to ourselves.

Thank you so much! And you do when actually there are so many people who actually have it you just don’t know. That’s why I started this; to show people they’re not alone and hopefully be able to help people too!
