Behind The Blog: Get To Know Jade Marie | Q&A

Lately I’ve been a bit too busy with uni work and deadlines to actually sit down and write a blog post. I’ve been saying I need to get something up, even if its just a short post but I wasn’t really sure what to write about as all of my planned content is pretty long. Enter the old stand by- a question and answer post! I’ve never actually done one of these before so I decided to ask on twitter for some questions to answer; queue the cricket noises. I’ve seen people doing these in the past  ...

How I Got Over 1,000 Views On My Blog This Month

So this month my blog has had nearly 1,500 views; I can’t believe I’ve actually just typed that! Sure it was a goal for this year to increase my views, but I never thought I would actually hit 1000 this year. I made the move to self hosted back in January and I can honestly say it was the best thing I’ve done for my blog. Before I moved over I was averaging on around 160/200 views a month and no matter how much promotion I did, I couldn’t get that number to rise. Before going self hosted I  ...

Caring For A New Piercing And Tips Before You Get One

So I finally did what I’ve been saying I want to do for years- I got my nose pierced! I also got my Helix (top of the ear) done at the same time as my piercer has a 2 for £20 deal on at the moment and it would have cost £15 just for one! We originally went up so that my mum could get both her Daiths pierced. I asked if they worked in my Goodbye September post and a lot of people said it had worked for them so she decided to give it a try. For those of you who aren’t piercing savvy, it’s the  ...

Learning To Love My Body & Entering “Real” Recovery

Whenever people say recovery, they seem to assume that you just return to how you were before. But the truth is, theres no real “going back”. You have to reinvent yourself and learn who you are now because it won’t be the person you were before. That sounds rather dramatic reading it back but it’s true. It’s also a good thing! I’ve already written in depth about how I ended up becoming anorexic, which you can read in this post here if you’re interested. While I speak a lot  ...

The Weirdest Thing About My Period #TalkingPeriods

I had my first period on the 6th September 2006, when I was 12 years old. Don’t even ask why I still remember the date, I’m just cool like that! I really struggled with my period through school: they were really irregular, could be heavy and painful one month then light and pain free the next. I underestimated my flow and ruined a nice pair of pants so many times that I just took to wearing my “period pants” constantly while at school. One thing that was always  ...

Not Everyone Enjoys Their Time At University

So this post is basically inspired by a tweet I saw from the lovely Sophie (PetalsOfPerfection) that said: Beyond excited to graduate… sorry but if anyone says to me that uni years are the best years of my life. YOU ARE WRONG. I couldn’t agree more! I’m so sick of hearing that your days at university are the best of your life, that it’s where you’ll meet your best friends for life and you’ll always wish you could go back. Because it’s just not true  ...

Life Update- August 2017 Roundup

If you’ve been with my blog from the beginning, you might remember waaaay back when I used to do a goals and dear diary style post every month. I kind of fell out of love with them, especially the goals part, so I stopped writing them. Well today I’m bringing them back…kind of! I’ve been thinking about doing a weekly roundup post for a while now (either on my blog or as a separate newsletter) but I quickly realised I might not have the time to do one  ...

Learning To Accept Who I Really Am- #ILiveItIBlogIt

Fair warning: this is one of those really rambling posts that I just sort of wrote, rather than planned out in advance. If it doesn’t seem to make much sense- sorry in advance! One of the main problems with blogging is that there seems to be this expectation for everyone to be exactly the same. Everyone should love the same things, write about the same products, have the same opinions…the list just goes on. I went through a stage of trying to be like that and it nearly made me quit  ...

How To Combat A Fear Of Going To The Dentists

I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t terrified of going to the dentists. To me all I associate them with is a lot of pain and fear: just the smell or the sound of a drill can make my palms sweaty and send my heart rate into overdrive! When I was little we used to get reminder cards through the post ever year and occasionally I’d be the one to find them first…so I’d hide them in my room in the hopes that they’d forget to go that year! It sounds so bad but  ...
